Who am I Accountable to?

The Warrior Anointing

Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

I heard a remarkable sermon recently about accountability that really stuck with me. So many of us tend to think we are only accountable to ourselves and to no one else. How many of us have said “it’s my life, I can do what I want with it.” Or, “it’s my body, I can do what I want with it.” Yet, is that really true? Don’t my actions or activity, or inactivity affect everyone else around me?

Yes, of course they do! No man is an island only accountable to himself. Every step I take, every dollar I spend and every decision I make affects other people. Forgive And Forget

“For if you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.” Matthew 6:14-15 (NASB)
Forgiveness seems to work by a variation of the Golden Rule: “In everything, therefore, treat other people the same way you want them to treat you” (Matt. 7:12). It is appropriate to practice forgiveness, so that those you forgive will in turn be gracious with you when you do them wrong. But our greater concern is not the forgiveness of man, but the forgiveness of our heavenly Father. We “do unto others” as we would have God do unto us.
Jesus’ warning is clear. We who refuse to forgive others jeopardize our status with God. To refuse to forgive after we have been forgiven of so much is a slap in the face of Almighty God. It suggests a lack of appreciation for what God has done, perhaps even an insincerity in our appeal for mercy. We dare not be cheap with a grace that cost God so much.

The Gospel According To Jesus – Part 61

“I assure you: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to this fig tree, but even if you tell this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done. And if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Matthew 21:21-22 (HCSB)
