“But He said to them. You are the ones who declare yourselves just and upright before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted and highly thought of among men is detestable and abhorrent (an abomination) in the sight of God.” Luke 16:15 (Amplified)
God knows the heart. Men may deceive themselves; it is possible for a person to trample upon his conscience until it is seared with a hot iron. It is altogether possible for men to make decisions and professions; they may talk a lot, they may wear a cloak of religion. Man looks upon the outward appearance, but God sees the innermost secrets of the heart.
Many times true believers are misunderstood by man, but God never misunderstands. Fellow-believers do not always fully appreciate or understand us; sometimes they question our motives–but God knows the heart. God weighs the motive, and it is He who judges the heart.
God sees the reality, and He estimates in pure holiness and righteousness. When we stand before the Judge who is righteous, we know that because He is righteous He cannot judge wrong. He knows our hearts, and we know that we will receive from Him exactly what we have earned through righteous stewardship–through works directed in the right way and performed for the purpose of glorifying God.
It is altogether possible for us to deceive our neighbors, our loved ones, the pastor of our church, and even ourselves–but God cannot be deceived; He knows the heart! We should always bear in mind the fact that we will not be judged by man. We will not be judged by our minister, our community, or by our loved ones; but God will judge us in righteousness.
