Affliction and Tribulation

Redbird's Roost

I would venture to say that few, if any, have suffered tribulation as Paul suffered for the glory of Christ. Speaking against false teachers in Corinth, Paul told the Corinthians, “Are they servants of Christ? I am a better one — I am talking like a madman — with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death. Five times I have received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I have been beaten with rods; once I was stoned. Three times I have been shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been adrift at sea; on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brethren; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in…

The Revealer Of Truth

lightofword
In the 13th chapter of John, Jesus told His disciples that He would go into Jerusalem, that He would be arrested, tried, convicted, and crucified. This broke their hearts. They had been walking and talking with Him for more than three years and they were deeply grieved to Him announce that He would be leaving them.

In John 14:1-6 He told them: “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you do not know the way where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, ” I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
(NASB)

Thank God for Thomas. Perhaps he did doubt; he said, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe” John 20:25 (NASB) But it was also Thomas who asked, “How do we know the way?” to which Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father but through Me.”

God reveals truth in Jesus–Jesus is the truth. He said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:32).
God is the revealer of truth, and apart from God, the natural man cannot know truth. Jesus was truth in flesh, and when we receive, we receive the fullness of God (Col. 2:9).

The Gospel According To Jesus – Part 66

bible
“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments the whole law is based, and the prophets as well.”
Matthew 22 37-40 (NAB)
