The Future Is As Bright As The Promises Of God

The Liar

“The serpent said to the woman, ‘You surely will not die!'” Genesis 3:4 (NASB)
The serpent accused God of lying. Why didn’t the woman stop listening at that point? God’s Word is true; He cannot lie (Titus 1:2). Satan, on the other hand, “is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44). He seeks to contradict whatever God has said. But Eve kept on listening; and to this very day liars are denying the Word of God, and uncounted thousands of unwary people are listening to and liking what the liars have to say. All the attacks directed toward the Bible come down to the issue of truth: can we trust what God has said? Is He telling the truth, or is He lying? Satan will cast any amount of doubt he can on this matter, just as he did with Eve.
The Word of God is under relentless assault by unbelievers. Shortsighted scholars claim to find inaccuracies within its pages. Entertainers mock its teachings. Many religious leaders substitute human philosophies for its eternal truths. Under such circumstances, believers cannot afford to be halfhearted in their defense of God’s Word. If we believe the Bible is divine truth, unchanging and unchangeable, we must say so. If we are convinced that human beings have no right to deny what God has affirmed, we must say so. If we realize that anti-Scriptural doctrines endanger the immortal souls of men, women, and children, we must label such doctrines as lies. Let us imitate the apostle Paul, who declared, “Let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).
