The Future Is As Bright As The Promises Of God

When I must leave you
for a little while
Please do not grieve
and shed wild tears
and hug your sorrow
to you through the years

Start out bravely
with a gallant smile
and for my sake
and in my name,
live on and do
all things the same

Feed not your loneliness
on empty days,
but fill each waking hour
in useful ways

Reach out your hand
in comfort and cheer,
and I in turn
will comfort you
and hold you near

Never, never
be afraid to die
For I am waiting
for you in the sky

  1. Very nice poem. Comforting to anyone who has lost a loved-one.

  2. Bitter-sweet poem. My husband died less that a year ago. Praise God, I know where my husband is, and look forward to that reunion

  3. Just what my soul needed!

  4. I thought of my mom as I read this poem. I miss her so much, especially at Christmas but like to think she is looking down on us from God’s garden where she is a beautiful flower. I know we’ll meet again.

  6. I read a book by this woman when I was homeschooling as a girl, but I can’t remember the name of it! I’m quite sure it was a collection of children’s stories…
