The Future Is As Bright As The Promises Of God

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:33-36 (NASB)

God is sovereign. His judgments are unsearchable; His ways are unfathomable. I cannot explain the sovereignty of God–if I could explain God, then I would be as big as my God.
I am glad I cannot explain God. The God I serve is much bigger, much greater, much more powerful than I. I would not want a God whom I could fully understand–because if my poor mind could comprehend God, then God would be a very small God. But–God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent; His judgments are unsearchable, His ways are unfathomable.
Man has split the atom; he flies faster than the speed of sound, has put a man on the moon, cloned animals. But there is one thing man will never do: He will never put God in a test tube and analyze God in a laboratory–God’s grace is beyond man’s understanding. Man could never understand how God could love wretched creatures such as we are, and permit His Son to die for us. It is impossible for man to understand how Jesus Christ loved a whole world full of sinners, and laid His life down willingly, that we might be saved.
God’s mercy has been extended to sinners through the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. The only way that you or I or any other person will ever stand before God to hear Him say, “Well done; enter into the joys of thy Lord,” will be on the merit of Jesus’ shed blood.

  1. Thank you for reminding us of God’s sovereignty. I really like the last part of this verse: For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.ā€ Romans 11:33-36 (NASB) For me this is both our identity in Christ and our inheritance in Him! šŸ™‚

  2. “As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.” Ecclesiastes 11:5

“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

To Him be the glory forever, indeed. Amen.
