The Gospel According To Jesus – Part 118

“Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
Mark 11:22-24 (NKJV)

Fellowship With Christ

“If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.” 1 John 1:6, 7 (KJV)
Fellowship involves sharing. When we follow what John and the other actual witnesses of the life of Christ have declared to us about Jesus and His will, we share Christ’s love, joy, and salvation with these early Christian saints and also with people around us today who serve Jesus.
The Greek word translated “fellowship” is koinonia, meaning “to have in common.” The early church continued in fellowship in many ways. They held their material goods in common and shared with others in need. They shared the message of salvation with others. They shared in the worship of prayer and praise with fellow Christians around the Lord’s table; in fact, the Greek word rendered “communion” in 1 Corinthians 10:16 is the word koinonia. Paul also speaks of sharing in Christ’s sufferings as a way to know Him (Philippians 3:10).
Walking in darkness refers to much more than just committing heinous sins such as adultery, robbery, and murder. It also means both not knowing what is right and not doing what is right in our daily lives. So we must study the Word of God to know the truth, and then live by it. To have fellowship with Christ we must saturate our minds with the account of Jesus’ life in the Gospels. By doing so, we will know what He would have us to do in the situations that we confront. We need to consult Christ, rather than the delusions of this world, to help us with our daily problems and to provide the counsel that we need. We do this through the disciplined study of His Word and through prayer.
