The Future Is As Bright As The Promises Of God

“These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” John 15:11 (NASB)
Most true believers have lived long enough and learned enough from the experiences of others to know that the world’s joy can never be full. It is always shallow and superficial. It is always followed by regret and guilt. We know that Jesus wants us to have a more abundant life: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they might have life, and have it more abundantly” John 10:10 (NASB).
The world’s joy will eventually fail. The joy of the Lord sustains us even when we have trouble, just as it did Jesus at the cross: “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12:2 (NASB).
We need to be there for people when their worldly joy comes up short. To do that, we have to demonstrate the true joy of Jesus. Sometimes Christians seem as shallow as anyone else because they have not fixed their eyes on Jesus as they ought. We have to befriend those who need what we have.

It’s so easy to forget about Him when things get hard. But when we tell our problems about how big our God is is when our joy will pour out.
