Psalm 139:14
“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.”
Psalm 139:14 (NASB)
“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.”
Psalm 139:14 (NASB)
I had walked life’s way with an easy tread,
Had followed where comforts and pleasures led,
Until one day in a quiet place,
I met the Master face to face.
With station and rank and wealth for my goal,
Much thought for my body but none for my soul,
I had entered to win in life’s mad race,
When I met the Master face to face.
I had built my castles and built them high,
With their domes had pierced the blue of the sky,
I had sworn to rule with an iron mace,
When I met the Master face to face
I met Him and knew Him and blushed to see,
That His eyes full of sorrow were fixed on me;
And I faltered and fell at His feet that day,
While my castles melted and vanished away.
Melted and vanished, and in their place,
Naught else did I see but the Master’s face.
And I cried aloud, “Oh, make me meek,
To follow the steps of Thy wounded feet.”
My thought is now for the souls of men,
I have lost my life to find it again,
E’er since one day in a quiet place
I met the Master face to face.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 (NASB)
We are saved to serve. God never saved any person to sit down and do nothing. He saves to serve; saving faith, and living faith is working faith: “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead” James 2:26 (NASB).
True faith produces works. We are not saved by works, but we work when we are saved. God does not expect all believers to be full time ministers, missionaries, Bible teachers nor evangelists; but all believers are full time Christians, and all full time Christians are full time witnesses. We are to work–and we will work, we will be anxious to work if we saved.
“Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim His
greatness.
Let the whole earth know what He has
done.
Sing to Him; yes, sing His praises.
Tell everyone about His wonderful deeds.
Exult in His holy name;
rejoice, you who worship the LORD.
Search for the LORD and for His strength;
continually seek Him.
Remember the wonders He has performed,
His miracles, and the rulings He has
given. . .
Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!
Each day proclaim the good news that
He saves.
Publish His glorious deeds among the
nations.
Tell everyone about the amazing things
He does.
Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of
praise!
He is to be feared above all gods.
The gods of other nations are mere idols,
but the LORD made the heavens!
Honor and majesty surround Him;
strength and joy fill His dwelling. . .
Let the heavens be glad, and the earth
rejoice!
Tell all the nations, ‘The LORD reigns!'”
1 Chronicles 16:8-12; 23-27; 31 (NLT)
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:4-2 (NASB)
Notwithstanding all that I have suffered, notwithstanding all the pain and weariness and anxiety and sorrow that necessarily enter into life, and the inward errings that are worse than all, I would end my record with a devout thanksgiving to the great Author of my being. For more and more am I unwilling to make my gratitude to Him what is commonly called “a thanksgiving for mercies”, — for any benefits or blessings that are peculiar to myself, or my friends, or indeed to any man. Instead of this, I would have it to be gratitude for all that belongs to my life and…

“It is good to give thanks to
the LORD
And to sing praises to Your
name, O Most High;
To declare Your
lovingkindness in the
morning
And Your faithfulness by night.”
Psalm 92:1-2 (NASB)
[New York, 3 October 1789]
By the President of the United States; a Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor — and whereas both houses of congress have by their joint committee requested to me “to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the people of these United States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of…
