Skilled Archers Will Shoot Their Arrows At Us

“Skilled archers have bitterly attacked and sorely worried him: they have shot at him and persecuted him.” Genesis 49:23 (Amplified)
“They have shot at him and persecuted him.” “Expect it; do not think it is a strange thing; all God’s people must have it. There are no royal roads to heaven–they are paths of trial and trouble; the archers will shoot at you as long as you are on this side of the flood.” – Charles Haddon Spurgeon
There are trials, temptations, troubles in the world, as well as from the world. As long as Christians live on this earth they will suffer from the weaknesses and frailties of humanity. But just as surely as in the world we shall have tribulation and heartache, just as surely in Christ we have peace beyond understanding. In Christ there is no condemnation. In Christ we have life eternal. In Christ we have assurance and hope. The world cannot rob us of our peace, not can the prince of this world destroy it.
The devil is powerful, but Christ is all-powerful. He met Satan and conquered him (Matt.4:1-11). Since this is true, then we have assurance that we are more than conquerors through Him. Christians are in the world, but we are not of the world. We are in the world, but we do not walk according to the world–nor do we walk alone. It is true that we will be tried, we will suffer persecution, we will undergo tribulation, but “whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world–even our faith” (1 John 5:4).
