Psalm 34:17-18
“The LORD hears His people when they call
to Him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
He rescues those whose spirits are
crushed.”
Psalm 34:17-18 (NLT)

“Your testimonies also are my delight; They are my counselors.” Psalm 119:24 (NASB)
“The Holy Spirit comes along side the Word of God to teach, empower, instruct, convict, and purify us. The result is understanding, repentance, renewal, and growth in Jesus. Theologian Philip Jacob Spener wrote: ‘The more at home the Word of God is among us, the more we will bring about faith and its fruits.'” – David Egner
The hope of the believer, the hope of our departed loved ones, the hope of the Church, the hope of all creation, is the return of the Lord. Paul admonished the Thessalonian believers, “Therefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thess. 4:18).
In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Paul said, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we are who alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.”
In all of God’s Word there is no other message that brings such comfort to the heart of the believer as does the message of the soon coming of Jesus Christ. It is so wonderful to know, in these dark and trying days, that at any moment of any hour, Jesus can come. The signs of the times are all around us. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Evil men and seducers are waxing worse and worse. Iniquity is abounding on every hand. Men are lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. The fig tree is budding and putting forth tender leaves. Spiritually minded believers are listening for the shout that will call us to higher ground.
