Ecclesiastes 11:5

“Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.”
Ecclesiastes 11:5 (NLT)

I Ought To Know

I was there when it happened, and I ought to know;
His Spirit burning in me, set my heart aglow;
So I praise the Lord today, He has washed my sins away;
I was there when it happened, and I ought to know.

The Right Mindset

“He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” Revelation 3:5 (NASB)
The older I get the better acquainted I am with Christ, the more I’m aware of His insistence on holiness. This seems to be a matter about which He’s not open to negotiation even in the slightest.
I guess somebody could consider bringing up this subject for discussion, “Ah, Jesus, I feel You’re a bit too stubborn on this righteousness issue. I mean, I figure I’ve made some pretty big concessions Your way. On the matter of this one pet sin, couldn’t you compromise a little? Accommodate me? Maybe 3 or 4 percent darkness allowable, and all the rest light?”
I warn you, the Lord won’t budge even one millimeter. . . .
The absolute truth is: Anyone who wants to be close friends with Christ needs to achieve this victory-over-sin mindset, needs to learn to keep short accounts with God, needs to refuse to allow sins of long standing to go unconfessed day after day, week after week, even year after year. . . .
The hour must come when the church as a body and the individuals who compose the corporate entity reach for holiness. We must ask God for determination to overcome sin; we must pray for conviction for our unrighteousness. We must understand that we will never experience that overwhelming sense of the presence of Christ if we are not intent on striving to be 100 percent light-walkers. — David Mains
