I advise and exhort you, with all love and tenderness, to make Jesus your refuge. Flee to Him for relief! Jesus died to save such as you; He is full of compassion. – George Whitefield
True Believers are in the world, but not of the world. In His intercessory prayer, the Savior besought the heavenly Father on our behalf: “I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” John 17:15-16 (NASB).
We are pilgrims on a journey. We seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God the Father. We are soldiers in the army of the Lord and we should sever relations with all things of this world that would hinder us as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.
We cannot avoid rubbing shoulders with the world, we cannot avoid coming in contact with evil; but we can—and we must—deliberately renounce evil and refuse to become involved in anything that would bring reproach upon the name of Christ.
“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” 1 Cor. 10:31 (NASB).
