Plugged IN Daily Devotional for 08.19.15 – Titus 2:7-8

Offer yourself as a role model of good actions. Show integrity, seriousness, and a sound message that is above criticism when you teach, so that any opponent will be ashamed because they won’t find anything bad to say about us. (Titus 2:7b-8 CEB)

People are judging and learning from of us all of the time. Our children are learning from us each and every day. What are people learning from you? I am disappointed sometimes at the things my children learn from me. Let’s all commit to being better role models of good actions.

Prayer: Lord, help me to remember that others, including my children, are learning from me, and that I need to model your love for others. Amen.

Love Is Proved By Action

It makes no difference how often a man may tell his wife he loves her—if he never expresses his love through action she will find it hard to believe his words. It matters not how much our children may express their love for us in words—if they do not demonstrate that love in obedience and respect we could well doubt their words.
God not only said He loved us—He proved it: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NASB)

Show that God cares by lending a helping hand

Use Your Gifts To Exercise Care For Others

Today, people all around us are in need of someone to take action to help them. It is a high privilege to become the hands of God as we respond on His behalf to cries for help. -Joe Stowell

God’s Love Endures Forever

God’s love endures forever—
what a wonderful thing to know
When the tides of life run against
you and your spirit is downcast
and low. . .
God’s kindness is ever around you,
always ready to freely impart
Strength to your faltering spirit,
cheer to your lonely heart.

Thank God For Thomas

“Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.'” John 14:5-6 (NASB)
Thank God for Thomas! I know he has been looked down upon. He has been called “Doubting Thomas,” and very few have realized the import of the question he asked of Jesus, for the answer to that question gives a detailed, yet brief account of the only way to be saved. Jesus answered Thomas, “I am the way—not one of the ways, not just a way—but the way. I am the truth—not just part of the truth, not a truth—but the truth. I am the life—not just life, not a life—but the life.”
