“And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil.4:7 HCSB).
This is a peace which the world cannot give; money cannot buy, nor can social position bring it. The peace of God comes from God as a gift — peace “which surpasses every thought.” In other words, God gives a peace which surpasses anything the mind of man can imagine or conceive. The finite mind cannot even think in terms of the peace which God gives to those who trust in Him.
If we but had the eyes to see
God’s face in every cloud,
If we but had the ears to hear
His voice above the crowd,
We’d find the peace we’re seeking,
the kind no man can give—
The peace that comes from knowing
He died so we might live!

“And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son” (1 John 5:11 NASB). What kind of life has God given us? Eternal life! We give gifts to our friends and loved ones, but those gifts perish, they wear out or become outdated. Not so with God’s gift; it is eternal. Jesus came that we might have life–abundant and everlasting; and regardless of the changes around us, our everlasting life remains the same. It never changes, it never grows old, it is never out of date.
Faith, hope, and love are three essentials, not three electives.
“See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.” (1 Thess. 5:15 NASB)
A Christian brings reproach on the Church and upon the name of the Lord, as well as discrediting himself when he repays evil for evil, wrong for wrong; but it is commendable and it honors God and brings honor to the name Christian when we repay good for evil.
“Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,‘ says the Lord. ‘BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.‘ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:19-21 NASB)
You are headed in the right direction when you walk with God.
A life is like a song we write
In our own tone and key,
Each life we touch reflects a note
That forms the melody.
We choose the theme and chorus
Of the song to bear our name,
And each will have a special sound,
No two can sound the same.
So when someone we love departs,
In memory we find
Their song plays on within the hearts
Of those they leave behind.
