Day 12: Struggling to Trust

My Beloved is Mine and I am His

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 2:5-6 (NIV)

Trust. It is easier said than done and I don’t know how other people manage their lives to simply just trust, then close their eyes and jump off the cliff.

Trust is such a big word for me. I couldn’t just give it away easily to somebody unless I have known that person for a long time and he or she has proven an exemplary track record with me. I need to see if I can rely on the person in so many different areas before actually coming too close.

But there’s a problem. I also fail even in this area, well, most of the time. I can’t exactly say that I am perfect in applying this principle to…

The Local Church and Why It Matters

Truth in Palmyra

By: John MacArthur

From: Grace To You Blog

I love the church. It’s the center of my life and has been since childhood. My father was the pastor of a church when I was born, and I grew up in the church. It’s the place where I was led to the knowledge of God, where I learned about the Person and work of Christ, and where I gained the knowledge of saving and sanctifying truth. It’s where I learned how to pray, how to sing, how to worship, how to love, and how to serve. And it was in the church that I experienced the leading of the Spirit of God directing me to a life of ministry.

I met my wife in the church. We raised our children in the church, and now our grandchildren, too. It’s where I’ve made lifelong friends and partners in ministry. The church touches…

A True Believer Never Stands Alone

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” I John 4:4 (KJV)
It is a tremendous thing to be a child of God. When one exercises faith in the shed blood and finished work of Jesus Christ, instantaneously that person is born of God, and instantaneously he takes up dwelling in God, and God dwells in him. That very moment he becomes partaker of Divine nature, possessor of the Holy Spirit, and seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption.
In this verse (1Jn. 4:4) we have assurance that the relationship between the believer and God guarantees victory. The believer belongs to God, God belongs to the believer. He is our Father, we are His children, and Jesus is our Savior. We are heirs of God, joint-heirs with Jesus. We may sometimes think that we are standing alone. There may be times when it seems that we are the only person in our community who is truly saved, and therefore we think we face the opposition of the enemy alone; but be not discouraged, for every true believer together with God forms a majority over any crowd.
The Holy Spirit within us is greater than the spirit of Antichrist in the world around us. God in us is greater than the devil and all the demons of hell combined.
