The Future Is As Bright As The Promises Of God

His Plans

The stories and adventures of me

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans I have made for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” (NIV)

God is our father and He wants what is best for us and will provide that in His timing. No matter what is happening, even when everything seems to be going wrong in our lives, God’s plans for us are for the best. He will always take care of us and not harm us because of His deep jealous passionate love.

I know personally that it is very hard to trust in God’s plans for me. I like to be in control and want to do what I want when I want. However, as I continue my walk with God, I am learning more and more how insignificant my plans and desires are and how significant…

When you want to give up on life

LEARNING TO CONTROL YOUR FEELINGSI’m a girl. Which means that one second I can be laughing until I’m crying and the next second I will be crying… literally.

One minute I’m high up in the clouds excited about everything in the world.

The next minute I’m down in the dumps throwing myself a pity party and thinking it’s the end of the world.

I could feel so many different emotions within the same day.

Growing up I only had one wish: that feelings had an off button.

That whenever I chose to I could switch off the button and stop feeling the hurt, discouragement, fear, and pain.

That I’d never have to feel bad things ever again.

But the truth is feelings are a blessing to each one of us, whether good or bad.

Because feelings always come from one source: thoughts.

And it is our feelings that indicate the thoughts that we need…

When God is Silent……

mandylynncarpenter

thR1PM2F9T Sometimes the hardest thing about prayer.

Is not getting a no.

Harder still is the silence.

The silence leads us to question God.

The silence is used by the tempter to get us to doubt God.

In my Bible reading today I came across a verse that stopped me in my tracks.

David says in Ps. 22:2-5 O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest. Yet You Are Holy, O you who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel. In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You delivered them, To You they cried out and were delivered; In You they trusted and were not disappointed.”

As I read the first verse, I was thinking, finally someone I can identify with.

After spending morning, noon and night praying and still no answer.

But it was the next line…

Flourish

iStock_000016759123SmallWhen we try to live up to society’s ideals and standards we can either become extremely prideful, because we have strived to reach the goal, or incredibly disappointed because we have failed to measure up.

The reality is society’s ideals are unrealistic and nearly impossible to sustain. When we try to attain them, we have to strive, push and control every variable in the process. Society tells us what we need to look like, what we need to wear, how much money we should make, what car we should drive so that we can finally be enough to receive the proverbial pat on the back.

The truth is we can come to God just as we are, and all of the pressure can come off. We can find acceptance through Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the Cross alone. He was perfect for us, died for us and was raised…

He Restores My Soul

englishrose2014

102

He makes all things new.  Is your soul weary?  Do you feel as though your best days are behind you?  Don’t allow the lies of the enemy to take residence in your heart.  God’s Word declares:

And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning…

Unworthy Motives

“For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.” Romans 12:3 (NASB)
How can I be sure of what God wants me to do? This is not as easy a question as it seems. Some of us have inflated opinions of our abilities. We handicap ourselves by being conceited and arrogant. Some of us are too modest. We handicap ourselves by underestimating our abilities. Paul advises each one of us “not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think.” On the other hand, one should not think of himself less highly than he ought to think. Each one needs to see himself or herself clearly and objectively; we need “have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.”
In our human weakness we may be tempted to ask, “How can I best glorify me?” Certain places of service can provide us the opportunity to nourish our pride or to strengthen our personal influence or to give us a heady sense of power. We must beware of seeking a place of service out of such unworthy motives. God gains glory when men and women of faith meet difficult challenges head-on, knowingly undertaking tasks that entail physical strain and emotional anguish.

Do you remember when you were little and your daddy held your hand from way up high and you walked with him?  You couldn’t see the path ahead, but you trusted where you were going because your daddy was leading you, and he would never put you in harm’s way.  You had no doubt you were completely safe and loved as you walked by his side.

At least that’s how you felt.  Truth is- something could have happened to you or your daddy any of the times you walked together.  Perhaps for some of you, it did.  For others, memories of daddy don’t faintly resemble a loving, hand-in-hand scenario: you may have endured years of neglect or abuse, perhaps been abandoned, and you have no idea what a loving father looks like.

Well, God tells us EXACTLY what a loving father looks like in Psalm 121:

“He will not let…

You Are Never Alone

Jesus_Christ_Image_214_small
“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NASB)

With faith in your heart,
reach out for God’s hand
And accept what He sends,
though you can’t understand…
For our Father in heaven
always knows what is best,
And if you trust in His wisdom,
your life will be blessed…
For always remember that
whatever betide you,
You are never alone,
for God is beside you.
