Love In Action

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 John 4:11 (KJV)
God’s love was a choice of the will and not a response based upon attraction or natural affinity. We tend to operate on emotion when it comes to love. We sometimes discriminate, choosing to love those whom we find appealing, or who may be able to benefit us in some way. Also, God’s love took the initiative. God’s love gave (John 3:16); His love sent (1 John 4:9). Our love for one another should be evidenced in action, not just in what we say.
